Notizen zu Simon Heinrich Wehrmann:
Simon Heinrich Wehrmann came to the Town of Herman in about 1851. He
settled on a farm next to his brother, Frederick Karl Wehrmann. In 1862,
Simon Heinrich Wehrmann enlisted as a soldier in the American Civil War.
He fought for the 27th Regiment of Wisconsin Infantry. He died during the
war on July 19 1863 in Snyders Bluff, Mississippi, of a fever. He was
buried somewhere in Mississippi near where he died. Later, some of the
soldiers who died and were buried there were reinterred and buried in
Vicksburg National Cemetery, Vicksburg, Mississippi. Those graves are
marked as unknown soldiers. Simon Heinrich Wehrmann may still be buried in
an unmarked grave near Snyder's Bluff or may be buried in an "unknown
soldier" grave in Vicksburg.
